Facebook has reached an agreement with 888 Holdings, the company behind 888casino, which will make a range of real money games available to the social network’s UK users.
This follows an earlier deal with Gamesys which led to the release of Bingo Friendzy, the social network’s first real money gambling app, back in August 2012.
The initial game introduced as part of this new deal is a real money version of Bingo Island, with poker, table games and slots also expected during 2013.
Itai Frieberger, 888 Chief Operating Officer, said: “Our Facebook freemium offerings have found a significant audience, and we are very excited by the opportunity that real-money gaming on Facebook provides. We are working closely with Facebook on this launch, ensuring we introduce the best of both worlds of real-money and social gaming.”
Julien Codorniou, Facebook’s European Head of Games Partnerships, added: “Facebook is a great platform for playing games with your friends and we are really pleased to be working with 888, who have a strong reputation on both the quality and safety of their games.”
Whilst the deal applies to UK users initially, the real money games are expected to be made available to other countries, although varying legislation means that the expansion must be handled cautiously.
